Velvet can be woven from any type of yarn. While in the past it was typically woven from silk, today cotton, linen, wool, and synthetic fibers (often in combination) are commonly used.

Can you fix damaged velvet?

Velvet can become flattened with unnecessary use or incorrect storage. It can be fixed through steaming its underside in different degrees depending on how big or small the damage is. So just because it might have matted areas or flat spots, don’t feel distressed and throw out your velvet fabric.
